    1/365 Project Take 2

I started wondering if I’d miss taking a daily picture sometime in Dec… so, I’m going to keep it going.

Technically, it’s take 3, my first round was in 2007 and was much less enjoyable because posting took so much more effort to get from camera to computer to uploading. And always having the camera back then was occasionally a challenge that is now laughable.

What I like most about the project is the commitment to finding something to shoot/post everyday, it’s less about the best picture and more about the finding of the image to take/post within the course of a busy day. And it got me to post here more or less weekly.

    1/365 2014 Week 52

    week52

The holidays, dinners, trees, ornaments, lights, and outside, a random decorative snowman.

I really like when people put the ornaments on the outside trees in the city, it’s festive and fun. (I probably should have taken that shot at a different time of day.)

If you haven’t yet seen the Matisse exhibit at MOMA, you should go, it is in the city until Feb 10.

And lastly champagne on New Year’s Eve.

    1/365 2014 Week 50

    week50

In the morning I don’t mind/actually like working around all the festive decorations at Rock Center. The evening shot of the tree on the other hand, well there’s nothing pleasant about that scene.

It wouldn’t be the holidays without seeing my niece’s dance recital.. that shot is from the encore. And the little guy sleeping with his hilarious little pacifier pal.

Tiffany’s had a really cute holiday campaign this year, that shot is from the window of the Fifth Ave store.

    1/365 2014 Week 49

    week49

Radio City Music Hall looks lovely all decked out for the Holidays, and I’m lucky to have a bird’s eye view from a conference room. A few more holiday decorations along Avenue of the Americas, but I am compelled to say that the giant tangled lights are my least favorite of the festive decor.

Rainy window, the best choice picture while being a shut in because it is awful outside.

A crisp cold morning followed all the rain, and I spied Santa climbing the fire escape.

Next up the unboxing of the new “precious.”

Back to the rain, and still with the old phone, I was drawn to the “OPEN” and my timing worked out perfectly with the customer coming up to the cart.

    1/365 2014 Week 46

    week46

Started the week with a few sightings of random art. And then I seem to have followed that up with a delivery of firewood, just off Times Square.

The marquee for the wonderful Damien Rice show, more pictures here. We are most definitely coming to an end for the autumnal displays, as I’m sure the pumpkins and gourds are frozen at this point. Next up Holiday decor!

I found the funky mirrors,in a bathroom adjacent to a, new to me conference space, in the Time Life Building.

Lastly, I caped the week out with a comment about the deep freeze.

    1/365 2014 Week 45

    week45

First shot, advert for the Hozier concert – I absolutely adore his album. The real photos from the gig are here.

A rainy dark morning is brightened by foliage and traffic. I am not loving how dark it is on my way home, but I do quite like this nighttime glimpse of the Empire State Building. I truly am a sucker for foliage.

I had very big eyes at the farmers market so I put together a delicious vegetable soup with my haul.

Yes, that is the Rockerfeller Center Christmas Tree under that scaffolding, it’s obviously a very big to do to trim that thing.

And lastly this week, the pier to nowhere at sunrise during a quick morning run.

    1/365 2014 Week 44

    week44

The first shot was a bit of a pumpkin throwaway. The second shot, well, it’s not everyday you see The Great Pumpkin.

On Halloween, for reasons I didn’t investigate, there was a cornfield in Times Square, so obviously that’s the picture.

Foliage shot, I’m sure anyone walking past thought I was nuts but I like the way it came out. Next up sunset taken through the window, followed by sunrise lighting up a building on my way back from the gym.

    And lastly, voting.

    1/365 2014 Week 42

    week42

And more midtown views this week, the heart of times square in a downpour, and fountains of Sixth. And yes, anther sunrise. I do like the sunrise.

I am a big fan of mums, and curving roads, so I quite like the way the sidewalk cafe came out. And I love Halloween decorations – I expect this to be a theme over the next few weeks.

Those Teriyaki Wings are such a yummy Monday night treat.

Last one, best one, another perspective of the buildings lining the Avenue of the Americas in the high 40s.

    1/365 2014 Week 41

    week41

Yes, that is a farmer’s marketing in Rock Center.

The “Bat Phone” is located in each of the private phone booth rooms we have on the floor. It cracks me up that it’s a basic house model and bright red. I’m also fairly certain, that I am not the only one who brings their own cell phone into the little room.

My favorite shot of the week is definitely the sky shot, with a small shadow of the skyline. Another beautiful sunrise. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of them.

Bright colors this week, the leaves against the sky and with another sunrise the pinks and the blues, for some reason this one reminds me of tie dying t-shirts.
