Mother Bear Project

I am at a standstill with my current knitting project as I wait on someome to provide measurements for me to complete it. Before I sat down to watch tv tonight I was a bit lost as to what else I could do simultaneously.

My “leftover yarn” jar is obviously overflowing and rather than come up with more places to stash “scrap” yarn I decided to dive in and create something from what I’ve got on hand. I always end up with some qty of excess yarn at the end of a project and the stash has moved from a small drawer, to a midsized bag, and lastly to the giant jar. I like the way the jar looks and it doubles as a great doorstop. But enough is enough, it is time to lighten the load inside the jar.

I had a flash of inspiration and I’ve decided to make a few bears for the Mother Bear Project. I first heard of the Mother Bear Project when my local yarn shop hosted an event night. The bear was quick and fun to knit up. I’m going to make my first one more or less according to the simple pattern and then play around with stripes and textures for subsequent bears.
