I’ve discovered a new fun social site: GetGlue
Essentially, it is a site to discover books, music, movies, tv, and topics you may enjoy based on what you’ve ranked as what you like or dislike.
I had a lot of fun filling out my profile over the past few days and then I wrote a few reviews on my favorites.
There was one hiccups where I inadvertently posted to both Facebook and Twitter but aside from that I’ve been enjoying the site. Two really cool things I’ve found:
1) If you can become the Guru of something (and who doesn’t want to be a Guru of something) you can be eligible to win a free thing related to it. So, for example, if you were the Guru of a book on punk chicks, you could win a Hole CD.
2) The add on Firefox toolbar, it recognizes books, movies, etc on other sites like Amazon or Netflix and it suggests other recommendations based on what you’re currently viewing and which of your friends liked what you’re looking at.
